Margot McPherson Balanos

Margot McPherson was born and raised in Montreal. Her mother was an artist and she started drawing in her mother’s studio when she was three years old.
Throughout her childhood she excelled in art and took courses in various media.

After completing two years of Art History at the American University in Paris, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in 1984. Since then she has worked in various areas of art and design in New York, Montreal and Los Angeles.
From 1994 to 2004 she lived and worked as a painter and sculptor on the island of Santorini and in Athens Greece where she and her husband had two galleries.
She opened a studio/gallery in Montreal where she lived and worked from 2004 until 2010.

Her work is profoundly influenced by classical antiquity and her admiration for the ancient canons of balance and beauty which reflect man’s original quest for perfection and truth in art.

Margot lives and works in Roussillon in the Vaucluse in her studio at the foot of the red ochre cliffs.
